Polaroid PoGo™ Instant Digital Camera

The Polaroid PoGo™ Instant Digital Camera is the first digital camera and printer combination available in the U.S. and Europe that is portable enough to take anywhere. The digital version of Polaroid’s iconic instant camera, the Polaroid PoGo™ Instant Digital Camera allows consumers to capture, view, crop and even add borders, then print their memories in less than 60 seconds on 2x3-inch, peel-off, sticky-backed paper. The Polaroid PoGo™ Instant Digital Camera easily connects to a PC or Mac where photos can be uploaded and saved from the camera’s 16 MB internal memory or SD card (not included).

• Available in March 2009: The Polaroid PoGo™ Instant Digital Camera will be available at retailers beginning in March. It will retail for $199.

Polaroid PoGo™ Instant Mobile Printer

The Polaroid PoGo™ Instant Mobile Printer is the first truly mobile digital printer, and prints images from a cell phone via Bluetooth or a digital camera with a USB cord. It uses the same paper as the Polaroid PoGo™ Instant Digital Camera and creates the same 2x3-inch, sticky-backed-photos.

• Available since July 2008: The Polaroid PoGo™ Instant Mobile Printer is available at Best Buy, Target and other retailers. It retails for $99.

The Polaroid PoGo™ family of products creates full-color, digital photos without ink cartridges or ribbons using ZINK™ Zero Ink™ Printing Technology from ZINK Imaging.

• No ink involved. ZINK Photo Paper™ is a composite material that houses cyan, yellow and magenta dye crystals in a protective polymer overcoat. Before printing, the dye crystals are colorless, so the photo paper appears white.
• Heat activation brings photos to life. Heat activates and colorizes the ZINK™ dye crystals, so digital photos can be shared instantly, developing in less time than a traditional Polaroid photo.
• ZINK Photo Paper™ available wherever Polaroid PoGo™ products are sold. Ten-packs of paper cost $4.99 and 30-packs cost $12.99.

Polaroid PoGo Review

For all the fans of the original Polaroid instant camera, you remember, the one where you insert a cartridge, take pictures and watch them develop before your eyes, take heart, Polaroid has done it again. Now you can capture those memories all over again, only with a smaller, sleeker, little brother. Introducing, Ta-Da! The Polaroid PoGo. The Polaroid PoGo is a compact digital camera with a built-in printer! It's 4.7 inches by 3 inches by 2 inches and is only 10 ounces. It can hold up to 10 2X3 inch sheets of photo paper. You can take pictures and store them on a standard memory card(not included) or download to your computer using a usb chord. The paper costs $4.99 for a 10-pack and $12.99 for a 30 pack.

This camera is high tech. It uses a heat-activation process to colorize special crystals that are in the paper. The results are sharp, clear inkless prints. Pictures develope in about 60 seconds.

This Camera Is Going To Be A Huge Hit!

Just think of all the advantages a camera like this can have. It's compact at the size of a deck of playing cards. It's simple to use. Just open the paper tray and insert the paper, take your pictures and print them right away. You don't have to take just the last picture either. You can scroll through the pictures in the memory and select which one you want. You can also choose a border for your print. This would make a wonderful Christmas gift and would fit rather nicely in a Christmas stocking :) It will be a huge hit a parties and social events. What about sporting events. The possibilities are endless.



Pros:

1)Relatively inexpensive for a 5-megapixal digital camera with built-in paper feed. Retail $199.00
2) Can print any image stored in the camera, not just the last picture. After selecting the print button, you can select how many prints you want and also choose borders.
3)Totally digital prints. No ink to sludge the prints. Prints are also water resistant.
4)Has a video recorder.
5)3 inch LCD

Cons:

1)Poor Battery Life. Can print only around 15 pictures before the battery dies. Without printing you can take 75 images.

2) Also found that the unit ran fairly warm; after the Polaroid PoGo printed eight photos, the camera was warm.

3)No optical zoom.

4) No paper counter



Conclusion:

The Polaroid Pogo is an innovative, fun gadget suitable for both children and adults. Even with its flaws, PoGo shows that Polaroid instant photography can still make you smile. All in all, I'm pretty impressed with the Polaroid PoGo and would be happy to recommend it.
